Area Manager – Bouar, Central African Republic

About the role

The Norwegian Refugee Council is seeking an Area Manager to lead its operations in Bouar, Central African Republic. The position will be central to the 2027 operating model, which places Bouar as the main hub for programme delivery across the surrounding districts.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the implementation of NRC programmes in Bouar and surrounding areas, ensuring alignment with grant requirements.
• Coordinate with the Cameroon Country Office to integrate operations and maintain compliance with NRC standards.
• Supervise local staff, providing guidance and support to achieve humanitarian objectives.
• Monitor operational budgets and resources to promote cost‑efficiency and sustainability.

Required profile

• Proven experience in managing humanitarian or development programmes in conflict‑affected settings.
• Strong understanding of protection, recovery and basic service delivery challenges in the Central African Republic.
• Ability to work in a multi‑partner environment and adapt to evolving operational models.
