Area Manager – CAR Operational Hub (Bouar)

About the role

The Area Manager will be based in Bouar and will lead NRC’s operational presence across the Central African Republic, covering Paoua/Bocaranga and Kaga Bandoro. This senior position ensures programme continuity, staff leadership, security oversight, and smooth transition to the integrated CAR‑Cameroon model.

Key responsibilities

• Provide line‑management for directly reporting staff, including performance management, recruitment, induction and staff development.
• Ensure compliance with NRC policies, guidelines and procedures across the area.
• Contribute area‑specific input to country strategy, transition planning, annual plans and programme development.
• Oversee high‑quality, timely and cost‑effective implementation of projects, including budget monitoring.
• Manage security, access and liaison with authorities, donors, partners and coordination mechanisms.
• Lead the operational transition roadmap and maintain institutional credibility during and after the integration.

Required profile

• Proven experience in senior field‑level leadership within humanitarian or development contexts.
• Strong understanding of programme delivery, compliance and security management.
• Excellent people‑management skills, including performance appraisal and staff development.
• Ability to work in a complex, multi‑partner environment and represent the organization externally.
