Media and Communications Officer (Internal Applicants Only)

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking an experienced Media and Communications Officer to lead external communications for its Country Office. This internal‑only position reports to the Regional Director and Chief of Mission and works closely with the Regional Media and Communications Officer and HQ units.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate implementation of the Country Office’s external communications strategy in line with IOM’s global priorities.
• Act as spokesperson, preparing media content on current and emerging migration issues and supporting crisis‑communication media lines.
• Provide technical advice to the Senior Management Team on strategic and sensitive communications.
• Supervise and mentor the Country Office’s Media and Communications staff, ensuring high‑quality content that follows IOM brand guidelines.
• Develop training materials and deliver capacity‑building sessions for communications staff and field teams.
• Oversee production of all external communications materials, ensuring consistency with organizational messaging.

Required profile

• Proven experience in media relations and public communications within an international or UN‑related context.
• Strong understanding of migration‑related issues and ability to convey accurate narratives to diverse audiences.
• Demonstrated leadership skills in managing multidisciplinary communications teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
