Savannah LSA Conservation Pilot

About the role

The Savannah LSA Conservation Pilot will operate Light Sport Aircraft to support wildlife law‑enforcement, biomonitoring and logistical missions within Bamingui‑Bangoran and Manovo‑Gounda St. Floris National Parks in the Central African Republic. Reporting to the Field Operations Manager and the WCS Aviation Fleet Manager, the pilot will play a critical role in enabling field teams to protect wildlife and gather scientific data.

Key responsibilities

• Fly Light Sport Aircraft on scheduled and ad‑hoc conservation missions.
• Coordinate closely with law‑enforcement, biomonitoring and logistics teams to transport personnel, equipment and samples.
• Conduct pre‑flight planning, navigation and radio communications in remote environments.
• Perform routine aircraft inspections, basic maintenance checks and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• Document flight logs and mission outcomes for reporting purposes.
• Participate in occasional international travel for aircraft maintenance, training and stakeholder meetings.

Required profile

• Valid pilot licence for Light Sport Aircraft.
• Experience operating in remote, field‑based settings.
• Ability to work independently and as part of multidisciplinary teams.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
• Strong communication skills in English.
