Mission Planning Officer (Data Management)

About the role

The Mission Planning Officer (Data Management) supports the Office of the Mission Chief of Staff in Bangui, ensuring that mission‑wide data is collected, harmonised and leveraged for strategic decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the collection, consolidation and harmonisation of data across mission components, field offices and the Joint Mission Planning Unit, maintaining a single mission‑wide data repository.
• Validate, structure datasets and establish metadata standards, source attribution and version control to ensure data quality and governance.
• Provide technical support to the Database Management Unit, enhancing data architecture, interoperability and accessibility across platforms.
• Develop and maintain data systems, tools and dashboards for visualisation, analysis and dissemination.
• Translate data into actionable insights for senior leadership, highlighting progress, gaps, risks and emerging trends.
• Strengthen data governance and coordination with the Joint Coordination and Analysis Centre, CPAS focal points and IPMR working groups.
• Build capacity and promote data literacy through guidance, training and practical support.
• Ensure data protection, confidentiality and ethical use in line with UN policies.
• Monitor and improve data processes, introducing innovative approaches or technologies.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of data management, database administration, data governance and data visualization.
• Experience with analytical tools, platforms and artificial intelligence.
• Ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for senior leadership.
