Head of Office, Political Affairs – Strategic Planning

About the role

The Head of Office, Political Affairs (Strategic Planning) will lead the design, coordination and monitoring of MINUSCA’s consolidation process, ensuring an evidence‑based, nationally owned hand‑over of tasks to the Central African Republic Government and the UN Country Team.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic advice to MINUSCA leadership on engagement with the host government, risk assessment and sequencing of task hand‑over.
• Develop and oversee a comprehensive consolidation strategic plan aligned with the mission mandate and the 2023‑2028 political strategy.
• Lead integrated analysis using UN performance tools (UMOJA, CPAS) to assess mandate delivery and mission impact.
• Coordinate the preparation of the Secretary‑General’s report to the Security Council, including progress updates, risk assessments and recommendations.
• Produce regular progress reports, situation briefs and data‑driven assessments for senior leadership.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in political affairs, strategic planning or peace‑building within an international or UN context.
• Proven ability to work with senior government officials and multilateral partners.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills, with a track record of delivering high‑quality, evidence‑based documents.
• Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
