Field Security Officer (P) – Expedited Recruitment

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) seeks a Field Security Officer (P) on an expedited internal recruitment basis to support security risk management for its operations in the Central African Republic. Reporting to the Chief of Mission and under the technical supervision of the Regional Security Officer, the incumbent will ensure the safety of personnel, assets, and programme activities.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and maintain working relationships with UN security entities, government counterparts, and partner security services to obtain up‑to‑date security information.
• Provide accurate security assessments and advise senior management on threat mitigation and risk reduction.
• Develop, implement and regularly test a warden system, including SCAAN, and coordinate security training for staff.
• Coordinate travel security requirements, assess transport networks, and manage medical evacuation procedures.
• Monitor compliance with UN Security Risk Management Measures and Residential Security Measures, participating in Security Cell Meetings.
• Supervise Field Security Associates and ensure appropriate security clearance procedures are applied.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Security Management, International Relations, Law or related field with at least five years of relevant professional experience, or equivalent combination of degree and seven years experience.
• Minimum five years of progressively responsible experience in security, risk, crisis or emergency management, preferably in an international or humanitarian context.
• Fluency in English and French (oral and written); additional UN language knowledge is a plus.
• UNDSS certifications such as Security Certification Programme (SCP) or Hostage Incident Management (HIM) are desirable.
