Business Manager – Pharma Commercial Operations

About the role

The Business Manager will lead commercial performance and operational execution for a key pharma market, driving profitable growth, market‑share expansion and execution excellence across brands and channels.

Key responsibilities

• Own P&L responsibility: achieve revenue, volume and market‑share targets in line with the approved Annual Operating Plan.
• Translate regional strategy into market‑specific execution plans and ensure strong on‑ground delivery.
• Lead sales and marketing activities, including brand management, pricing, trade strategy and promotional execution.
• Partner with corporate marketing, commercial and supply‑chain teams to ensure forecast accuracy and product availability.
• Use sales and market analytics to monitor performance, identify gaps and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain financial discipline, cost control, working‑capital management and timely reporting to headquarters.
• Manage relationships with regulatory authorities, customs and government bodies.
• Build and develop a high‑performing team with clear roles, accountability and performance standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or equivalent business qualification preferred.
• Pharmacy or life‑sciences background is an advantage.
• 12+ years of progressive experience in pharmaceutical, FMCG or CPG organisations, including senior leadership of a mid‑size country operation or regional business.
• Strong exposure to African markets, particularly Central or West Africa, is a strong advantage.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 40%.
• Fluency in French (spoken and written) preferred.
