Senior AI / Digital Transformation Expert

About the role

NTU International is seeking a Senior AI / Digital Transformation Expert to lead the digital transformation of transport governance across the ECOWAS region. The role will support the EU‑funded project “Technical Assistance to ECOWAS in Transport Governance” by integrating AI, smart platforms and data‑driven tools into regional transport systems.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement digital transformation strategies and smart transport governance solutions.
• Provide technical assistance for AI integration into transport, logistics and infrastructure systems.
• Design AI‑enabled monitoring tools, predictive analytics systems and decision‑support platforms.
• Advise on automation, digital interoperability, data governance and innovation frameworks.
• Support digitalisation of corridor monitoring, customs, road safety, transport observatories and infrastructure management.
• Prepare technical specifications, innovation roadmaps and operational guidelines.
• Coordinate with ECOWAS institutions, ICT providers, transport agencies and development partners.
• Deliver workshops, training and capacity‑building activities on AI applications.
• Contribute to monitoring, reporting and analytical outputs related to digital innovation.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Information Systems, Digital Innovation, Data Science or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of professional experience in digital transformation, AI or smart infrastructure systems.
• At least 7 years of experience in AI systems, smart governance platforms or related digital transformation projects.
• Proven experience working on digitalisation projects in developing countries, preferably in Sub‑Saharan Africa.
• Experience with international development cooperation and donor‑funded programmes.
