Head of Protection, Return and Reintegration Unit

About the role

The Head of Protection, Return and Reintegration Unit will lead IOM’s protection programmes in the Central African Republic, guiding initiatives that ensure safe return, durable reintegration and the protection of displaced populations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement protection, return and reintegration strategies aligned with IOM and government priorities.
• Coordinate closely with the Government of CAR, UN agencies, NGOs and other partners.
• Manage a multidisciplinary team, overseeing staffing, performance and capacity‑building.
• Ensure compliance with IOM policies, monitor programme outcomes and produce regular reports.
• Represent IOM in national and regional coordination mechanisms.
• Oversee budget planning, resource allocation and financial reporting for the unit.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in law, international relations, humanitarian affairs or a related field.
• Minimum eight years of progressive experience in protection, return or reintegration within humanitarian settings.
• Proven leadership and management experience in conflict‑affected environments.
• Fluency in English; working knowledge of French is an asset.
• Strong understanding of migration and displacement dynamics in the Central African context.
