Head of Protection, Return and Reintegration Unit

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a senior professional to lead its Protection, Return and Reintegration Unit in the Central African Republic. The role will guide the delivery of protection services to internally displaced persons, returnees, refugees and other vulnerable migrants, including gender‑based violence (GBV) response.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and oversee protection activities within IOM’s multi‑sectoral humanitarian response in CAR.
• Ensure the provision of lifesaving assistance such as shelter, water, sanitation, health services and non‑food items to affected populations.
• Work closely with the Government of CAR, United Nations agencies, civil society organisations and other partners to align protection interventions.
• Lead the development and implementation of strategies for safe return and reintegration of displaced persons.
• Monitor and report on protection outcomes, including GBV prevention and response.

Required profile

• Significant experience in protection, return and reintegration within humanitarian settings.
• Strong knowledge of the Central African Republic context and migration‑related challenges.
• Proven ability to collaborate with government, UN bodies and NGOs.
• Leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
