Driver – UN Resident Coordinator Office

About the role

The United Nations Resident Coordinator Office in Bangui is seeking a professional driver to support the transport of staff, cargo and official documents. The role involves safe vehicle operation, routine maintenance and assistance with data‑related tasks in a multicultural environment.

Key responsibilities

• Drive vehicles safely for the transport of authorized personnel, general cargo, and specialized hazardous goods.
• Make regular deliveries of parcels, documents and other items between the UN office and external institutions such as ministries, embassies and permanent missions.
• Collect urgent purchases from local suppliers, handle customs formalities and process payments for goods.
• Receive officials at the airport and facilitate immigration and customs procedures as required.
• Perform day‑to‑day vehicle maintenance, including checks of oil, water, battery, brakes and minor repairs, and arrange for larger repairs while keeping the vehicle clean.
• Log official trips, mileage, fuel consumption and manage accident reporting in accordance with UN regulations.
• Assist in collecting and analysing data, preparing presentations, reports and visual materials, and updating web pages or brochures.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; a relevant first‑level university degree may substitute two years of experience.
• Valid national driver’s licence and a minimum of two years progressive driver experience with a clean safety record.
• Knowledge of driving rules, local road conditions, security awareness and frequent routes used by senior staff.
• Professional conduct when dealing with officials, visitors and UN personnel.
• Fluency in French (UN Level II) and working knowledge of English.
