Lead Conservation Pilot

About the role

The Lead Conservation Pilot will oversee aerial conservation activities in Bamingui‑Bangoran and Manovo‑Gounda St. Floris National Parks, reporting to the Field Operations Manager and the WCS Aviation Fleet Manager. The role coordinates closely with law‑enforcement, biomonitoring and logistical teams and includes occasional international travel for aircraft maintenance and meetings.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and conduct pilot operations supporting wildlife monitoring and protection.
• Ensure flight safety, regulatory compliance, and aircraft maintenance coordination.
• Act as liaison between law‑enforcement agencies and conservation teams.
• Support aerial biomonitoring data collection and logistical planning for field missions.
• Coordinate with the aviation fleet manager for maintenance schedules and international briefings.

Required profile

• Proven experience piloting aircraft in remote or conservation settings.
• Strong understanding of wildlife protection and collaboration with law‑enforcement.
• Ability to work in challenging, remote environments.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel internationally for maintenance and meetings.
