Food Service Assistant – Lunch Entree

About the role

The school cafeteria is looking for a reliable Food Service Assistant to help prepare and serve nutritious lunch entrees. You will work closely with the Food Service Director to keep daily operations running smoothly and maintain a clean, safe environment for students.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Food Service Director to ensure lunch entrees are prepared and served on time.
• Maintain and operate food service equipment such as ovens, steamer, hot line, and other cafeteria appliances.
• Read and follow recipes accurately.
• Assist with receiving and storing food orders.
• Help the dishwasher and keep kitchen areas clean.
• Serve meals, clean tables, and handle trash and recycling at shift end.
• Perform end‑of‑shift clean‑up and ensure sanitation standards are met.
• Apply food safety guidelines consistently.

Required profile

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods.
• Team‑oriented attitude with good interpersonal skills.

Required skills

• Operation of ovens, steamer and hot line equipment.
• Knowledge of food safety guidelines and sanitation practices.
