Construction Engineer (6-month TA) – Bangui, CAR

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a Construction Engineer on a six‑month technical assistance assignment to lead the planning, procurement support, and on‑site monitoring of construction projects for its country office in Bangui. The role bridges programme needs with government and partner coordination to ensure safe, timely, and cost‑effective delivery of infrastructure that supports children’s programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Develop the annual construction work plan in collaboration with UNICEF programme teams and government counterparts.
• Prepare design specifications, technical documents and support the procurement process for construction contracts.
• Monitor construction sites, ensuring compliance with quality standards, timelines, and budget.
• Provide technical advice to government officials and partners on construction project management.
• Report progress and challenges to the Supply & Logistics Manager.

Required profile

• Master’s degree or equivalent in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum five years of experience in construction, facilities management, project management, site supervision or quality assurance.
• Proven ability to handle complex, pressure‑filled situations and manage change in a diverse environment.
• Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
